Master of Production Design for Screen

Alfonso Coronel

Alfonso is an emerging production designer based in Australia. He has a Master's Degree in Production Design for Screen from the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) and a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Screen) Degree from Flinders University. Alfonso blended his passion for story telling with his love for visual art. His shift into design enabled him to refine his creative process, initiating a more in depth approach to story telling. He loves character driven films and films that put a lens on interpersonal relationships and the human condition. During his time at VCA; He was a set design intern for the upcoming Netflix show Click Bait, and an art department intern on the upcoming ABC Series, The Newsreader. Alfonso also works in Fashion; he was previously a Creative Producer for Manila based fashion brand, 'Carl Jan Cruz'‚ for two collections in Paris during Paris Fashion Week in 2017 and 2018.

Dominic Brown-Downes

Dominic is a set and costume designer and maker completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Design and Production) at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA). He is interested in the creation of worlds that challenge the perceptions of audiences and prompt performers to rethink their ideas of a production.

During his time at the VCA, Dominic has held varying roles across productions including Set and Props Designer on The Cripple of Inishmaan (2020), Costume and Set Designer/Maker on Sight Unseen (2020), Associate Costume Designer on DFLTLX (2019) and Workshop Leading Hand on Snore (2019) and Swim Between the Flags (2019).

Dominic has previously completed a Diploma of Live Production and Technical Services (Costume for Performance) from Melbourne Polytechnic and has had the opportunity to work with companies including The Australian Ballet, National Institute of Circus Arts and MOOMBA.

Sophie Davis

Sophie is a set and costume designer recently completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Design and Production) at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA). Sophie is determined, as an emerging artist, to find new ways of creating environmentally sustainable and ethical work - exploring the relationship and potential between creativity, science, diversity and its translation into physical space.

Her practice is multi-faceted with interest and experience also in scenic art, set/prop making and spatial and installation design. Sophie has held various notable roles across productions at the VCA including Costume Designer on Earthquakes in London (2021), Set Designer on pool (no water) (2020), Associate Set Designer on Snore (2019), Head Scenic Artist on Swim Between the Flags (2019) and Assistant Costume Maker on Body (2018).

Sophie was the recipient of the Cassidy Bequest Scholarship for Production in 2019 and is currently commencing Honours in Social Practice and Community Engagement.
